The war hammer consists of a handle and a head. The handle may be of different lengths, the longest being roughly equivalent to the halberd, and the shortest about the same as a mace. Long war hammers are pole weapons (polearms) meant for use against riders, whereas short ones are used in closer quarters and from horseback.

This hammer is called òrd ànart, which translated from (Tolkien) dwarven means Hammer of Pride. The hammer was committed to him upon completion of formal Inquisitor training and oath of dedication to a worthy cause. The hammer was a part of the ritual, being imbued with divine power to bind the wielder to the oath he swore. The hammer takes pride in its calling as a companion to the wielder and the oath and is equally offended should the wielder waver from the oath.

The oath Brolorn swore was this, "I swear, by my life, that I will be a Guardian against corruption even as Giliath protects all life from the taint of his brother, Sanenth. My skills and time are dedicated to revealing the persons and practices of the corrupt who promote the rot of civilization and purging them. I will keep myself unspotted from the blemish of corruption and discover those who have been poisoned. Until the world is cleansed.”
